Terms and Conditions For Faculty and Staff

UB EMPLOYEE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I acknowledge that in conjunction with my receipt of Microsoft products pursuant to the UB/Microsoft Campus Agreement, I have been read, understood and hereby agree to the following terms and conditions associated with my use of the licensed products:

  1. That the licensed products available for use include:
    1. Microsoft Windows Upgrades
    2. Microsoft Office for Macintosh and Windows
    3. Microsoft Publisher
    4. Microsoft Visual Studio
    5. Microsoft FrontPage for Macintosh and Windows
    6. Microsoft Core Client Access License (CAL)

  2. That I am prohibited from reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling the licensed products, and that I am prohibited from separating component parts for use on more than one computer.


  3. That I am prohibited from renting, leasing or lending licensed products.


  4. That I may not transfer my rights, if any, that I receive with these products to any third party.


  5. That I am not entitled to free telephone support for these products from Microsoft. Support may be available from my department or IT Area / Node IT Staff.


  6. That Microsoft claims copyright in these products and that the products may not be reproduced or otherwise copied.


  7. That the products are licensed by Microsoft and may only be used subject to the terms and conditions of the UB/Microsoft Campus Agreement and the applicable Product Use Rights.


  8. UB Faculty and staff are licensed to install Microsoft software on university and personally owned computers for academic, or work related purposes.


  9. That if I elect to install the licensed products on a desktop and/or personal portable computer that:
    1. the licensed products must be used only for academic or work-related purposes; and
    2. that the products must be deleted and removed from the temporary memory (RAM) and permanent memory (e.g. hard disk) of such computer at the end of the term of the UB/Microsoft Campus Licensing Agreement, or at an earlier date if so notified by my employer.

  10. That I will return the product to my employer at the end of the term of the UB/Microsoft Campus Licensing Agreement, at an earlier date if so notified by my employer, or at the end of my employment with the University whichever comes first.

I understand that if I fail to comply with these I will be solely responsible to Microsoft and/or The University at Buffalo for my actions, that my actions may result in civil and/or criminal penalties, and that they may constitute behavior outside the scope of my employment with The University at Buffalo.
