UBMicro Distribution Services

Direct Delivery Option:
Many campuses do not have the ability to order media for students and faculty and staff work at home use and then distribute that media to individuals. UBMicro offers a direct delivery option to your qualified faculty, staff and students at no additional charge to your campus. You simply refer them to a custom webpage that includes your campus' product selection and the end-user places the order direct. UBMicro verifies their eligibility, takes payment and ships the product direct to the student, faculty or staff member. As an added feature, UBMicro can also include any costs your campus would like to recover (such as license fees or support costs) and credit that amount back to your institution.

Campus Bulk Option:
Another option for distributing software to individuals for installation on personally owned computers is through a campus computer store or bookstore. You can place a bulk order for student and work at home media and then resell the title in your college bookstore or auxiliary store. Your campus will need to verify eligibility, adhere to license terms and conditions, and offer perpetual rights certificates to graduating students.

Media Distribution

The Microsoft Campus Agreement entitles you to a license to use the software selected and to one master copy of the current media (CD set) for each title selected. Your choices for distributing the software on campus are:
  •  Purchase additional copies of the Microsoft media. This method allows individuals to have their own copy of the software.
  •  Duplicate the media. Duplicated media can be used by IT staff to update institutional computers. The cost is significantly less that purchasing Microsoft media. UBMicro sells duplicated media. Custom labels can be made for distribution to your campus.
  •  Install the software on individual computers using your master copy. Many schools generally favor having IT staff install software on institutionally owned computers form master CDs or from a limited access server.
  •  Creating a server for downloading the software. Due to the size of the software files, few schools nation-wide distribute licensed Microsoft software from servers.
    * Restrictions apply as to the number of installs, and media can only be distributed to students if the Student Option has been licensed.

Installation: Wizards and Product Code Keys
Microsoft distributes media produced either with or without an installation wizard.
  •  Microsoft media with the wizard can not be duplicated. Original copies must be purchased through UBMicro. Each copy of the media purchased (CD set) comes with a unique Product Code Key affixed to the media packaging. When this media is installed, you are prompted for the Product Code Key. Most wizard installed product is limited to two (2) installations. The Windows XP upgrade is limited to one (1) installation.
